As wee change from Afghanistan, I thought I’d show some images from our lockdown walks. Our usual walks have become very congested so we’ve been seeking out quiet country lanes instead.

Impossible to keep six feet apart on this path
This path leads from the town to Threave Castle. There are places, usually at gates, where it opens out into the fields and people can pass each other, keeping a safe distance. However, while most walkers will wait at an opening for others to pass, some (most likely visitors come to hide out for lockdown) just barrel on down the path. Their sense of entitlement apparent.
I thought I’d share a few photos from recent walks. Apologies if you find photos of cows boring – I like cows. They are so wonderfully nosy and curious and friendly (as long as they don’t have calves with them)

Go on, then, take a nice family shot!

Photo shoot over

Less usual farm animals!
I love cow pictures as well as sheep and alpacas! It looks so lovely. Glad you have quiet places to walk. I should take my camera when I walk Dot. Stay safe. xo

Thanks, Darlene. Yes, take your camera so we can see what it’s like where you live – and, of course, pictures of Dot would be welcome.

It looks to me as if all the animals are glad to have some humans to look at.

They don’t see many humans up close and personal. They probably find us very strange creatures.

Nice photos of your walk, Mary. I’m still not sure about cows though. I think they are best avoided, calves or not! 🙂 They can run at 28 mph, and are as heavy as a car!
Best ishes, Pete.

You will notice I’m not actually in the field with them, Pete. I just stand at the gate and they come over to see me.

Fabulous Mary. Most of our walks here are along the coast, and if we do see livestock up close and personal in tends to be sheep. I enjoyed accompanying you on your walk and have pressed for tomorrow..xx

Love picture of cows, too. But yours are looking so intelligent, and this is looking so pieaceful. But in the first picture, Germans must have been at work. This is what you can find in Germany, that such a thing is only so precisely defined. LOl Thank you for the journey, Mary. Stay well and save. Michael

Glad you like the pictures of our cows, Michael. Your comments about the first picture made me laugh. The path is not the most interesting one! It was once a railway line, which is why it is so straight, but it does lead to more interesting places.

Lol, but the construction of this path really remembered my on the Germans here. If I am honest, the design of the path reminds me even more of Bavaria, and the interpretation of the Catholic doctrine of faith. Simply saying not to deviate from the true path is not enough. They need to show it to people. LOl Best wishes, Michael

Oh, I didn’t expect all of the animals! They’re delightful. Thank you for taking us along on your country walk. I should try to get out in the sunshine today.

We’re surrounded by sheep, beef and dairy farms, Liz. The coast is a few miles away – less than half an hour’s drive but it’s not allowed just now. I hope you enjoy a walk in the sunshine today.

Thanks, Robbie. We’re really lucky to live beside beautiful countryside. Of all farm animals, cows are my favourite, especially at this time of year when they are happy to come to the gate to say hello.
